2010 Federal Applicance Rebate Program

The cash for refrigerators are set to start early this year. It is a $300 million program available to people buying energy-efficient washers, refrigerators and other appliances that qualify for the federal “Energy Star” designation.

If you want to know what your state is offering, you should visit http://energysavers.gov website then click on “state appliance rebate program.”

The refrigerator rebate program will be made available until February 2010 or the money is gone.

Minnesota Power, for example, has already given away its $25 rebate on Energy Star Refrigerators.

Cash for Refrigerators

A $300 million cash for appliances program is set to be awarded in November but, unlike cash for clunkers, consumers won’t have to trade in their old appliances. This is good news for consumers who are cash strapped and are due to replace their old appliances. Although the program authorizes only rebates of $50 to $200, these rebates will help families make the transition to more energy efficient appliances.

Appliances that will qualify for the cash for refrigerators (refrigerator rebates) program are those appliances covered by the Energy Star seal.
